This apple cake is made from yeast dough and it’s also named as Granny’s Apple Cake. You can find the secrets of yeast dough from here. If you would like to have one stove plate cake, then you should divide the amounts written in there in half.
Tip: if you are using cake mold, you can make dough a little more fluid. This means the dough will come more fluffy and softer. You just need to add less flour in the dough.
Ingredients for the dough (for one cake):
- 25 grams of processed yeast or 12 grams of dried yeast
- 2 dl milk or water (body temperature, about 38-40°C / 98.6°F-104°F)
- 6 dl self raising flour
- 100 grams butter or 90ml oil
- 0,5 dl sugar
- 0,5 teaspoon salt
Apple cover ingredients:
- 1 dl sugar
- 8 sour apples
- 3 teaspoon cinnamon
Dough instructions are here. And for the cover, slice the apples, mix together cinnamon, sugar and sliced apples. Cover the raised yeast dough with the mixture. Bake it about 20 minutes in 220°C/ 428°F.
